Easy Summer Home Styling

Easy Summer Home Styling

Vitamin D is always welcome in England and defintely helps us smile a little more doesn't it?

Subtle Changes

Please don't get overwhelmed with the idea of home styling it really can be a lot of fun and doesn't have to feel like a chore. I know it can feel difficult in-between everyday life, work, children, activities etc so it doesn't always feel like a priority. This is why I personally opt for speedy changes which are quick, painless and easy to do.

I invest in a few new pieces throughout the year and sell anything on that I no longer use, there is always someone out there looking for exactly what you no longer need.

At times we get so used to the rooms in our homes looking the same and we get caught up in everyday life that it's easy to forget all the excitement and ideas we had before we moved in. This is why making the smallest of changes which are super quick and effective can really boost your mood, and keep your home exciting and fresh all year round.

Iv'e been in homes where they say "I really need to decorate this room" when in fact they don't need to decorate it at all they just need little uplifts to make it feel like new again. It's all in the detail of those little things which can make a huge difference to a room and the way you feel about it.

Summer Decor

Adding subtle pastel colour tones and patterns throughout the rooms in your home really elevates and compliments the summer season perfectly.

My Top 5 Checklist For Easy Summer Uplifts Which Make A Big Difference.

1. Pops Of Colour throughout your home is the perfect summer uplift there are many things which can easily be swapped in and out as simple as books, small decorative ornaments, candles and diffusers which make a big difference.

2. Wall Art/Plaques are perfect for making a room look and feel different simply unhook one piece and swap it for another this always keeps your home feeling fresh and seasonal with minimal effort or time needed. Plaques are even easier as they stand alone or rest against the wall making it easy to move them around and they really complete areas needing that little finishing touch.

3. Vases not only look great but they are so versatile, you can use them for big statement centrepieces with flower arrangements or more simple stand alone pieces which they look equally amazing too. I love to do this in my home. They're great for adding immediate colour or styling additions. Bud vases are a personal favourite of mine as they really help finish off styling spaces and are easy to store when not using.

4. Artificial Flowers of different coloured bouquets and stems look amazing and are easily swapped in and out based on your current mood, or seasonal time of year. This will save you heaps of money long term instead of trying to maintain fresh flowers each week, they are easy to store too when not using.

5. Cushions/Throws are amazing for seasonal decor for the summer months bring in some of your favourite colours and patterns to sit in between your current sofas, chairs, beds & garden furniture, how far you go really depends on your personality and individual style.

 Storing Items

Ok so you have these extra seasonal pieces so then what?

Storage space can be a pain for many people so it can make things difficult, this is why when purchasing items keep that in mind, if you struggle with free space opt for smaller pieces that can be given a place when not using.

When we first moved into our new home I made it a priority to ensure we had some storage space. We don't have a loft inside our home but we do have a garage so for me it was all about utilising that space, I knew we wouldn't drive our car in and out of our garage everyday when we have a driveway so we turned it into our tidy storage heaven, mixed with a games room and gym storage area, before it quickly became a place to put things we don't use.

Why do we do this to ourselves? If you don't use it then it has to go, you'll be amazed how much space you suddenly have when you don't keep things for a rainy day.

We invested in some strong racking and lots of clear storage boxes, added on some printed labels that I did myself at home, as these can be expensive and I wanted to have the option of changing them around when and if I need to.

This way I know exactly where everything is so when it comes to making those seasonal changes it saves me time and I don't dread doing it because I know exactly where to find it all. One season in one season out works a charm.

So if you know there is an area in your home that could be used for some storage space however big or small then this is your sign to make a start!

Remember styling your home with quick uplifts will make your home feel like new again, and doesn't have to be a hard or time consuming task.
