Spring Reset: Small Home Decor Changes That Make a Big Impact

As the days get longer, brighter and warmer, spring naturally invites a fresh start. For those of us who love to seasonally change our home, this season is the perfect opportunity to “reset” your space with intentional, small changes which make a big impact and breathe new life into your home.

The good news? A spring refresh doesn’t have to be expensive or overwhelming. Thoughtful updates using decor and accessories can completely transform how your home looks and feels, and equally how you feel too.

Here’s how to create a spring reset that delivers big impact with minimal effort.

1. Lighten Up Your Colour Palette

No brainer with this one Spring is all about airiness and ease. Start by swapping out heavy winter tones for lighter, brighter hues.

Easy updates:

  • Replace dark throw pillows with soft neutrals, pastels, or subtle patterns

  • Layer in whites, creams, sage greens, pinks or soft blues

  • Introduce light wood or woven textures to warm things up naturally

Even changing just a few accent colours can instantly lift the mood of a room.

2. Style With Purpose (Less Can Be More)

Spring is the season of editing. Instead of adding more, try refining what’s already there, or swapping in different seasonal decor changes. If you have space to store decor through the seasons this can make your home feel like new every season we enter.

Try this approach:

  • Clear off surfaces and restyle with just 2–3 intentional pieces get rid of what you no longer need. It's the best time to declutter.

  • Group decor in odd numbers for a designer look, styling in odd numbers always looks visually pretty.

  • Mix heights and textures (a book stack + small vase + sculptural object) try to add height to some places to create a focal point. You can use styling trays and books for elevation and play around with different looks and shaped objects too.

This creates visual calm while still feeling styled and thoughtful.

3. Bring the Outdoors In

Nothing says spring like nature. Adding organic elements makes a home feel alive and refreshed.

Simple ways to do this:

  • Fresh flowers or faux stems in entryways and kitchens will instantly brighten and lift your space.

  • Potted plants or small herbs on windowsills with a plant mister is a lovely look.

  • Natural materials like stone, rattan, ceramic, or glass to give your home character.

Even one plant per room can make a noticeable difference, I always tell my lovely customers how important plants are to a room, big or small they really make such a difference.

4. Update Your Accessories, Not Your Furniture

You don’t need new furniture to get a new look. Accessories do the heavy lifting.

High-impact swaps include:

  • Decorative pillows easy and effective transformation at it's finest.

  • Area rugs or runners if you have storage space to do this then go for it.

  • Trays, bowls, and tabletop decor win, win, win.

  • Plants, plants and more plants.

Wall art is a fantastic way to change seasonal decor swap your pictures around and use free standing plaques too.

These pieces are affordable, flexible, and easy to rotate seasonally.

5. Don’t Forget the Entrance way.

Your entrance way sets the tone for the entire home—and spring is the perfect time to refresh it.

Quick ideas:

  • Add a new doormat, wreath or runner to add that pop of spring into your space.

  • Style a console table with a mirror and fresh greenery and accessories.

  • Use baskets or trays to keep things tidy and functional

  • Candles & diffusers are a must throughout your home, the scent of a home is the first thing you and others notice when you enter.

A welcoming entry instantly makes your home feel refreshed and welcoming too.

Final Thought: Small Changes, Big Energy Shift

A spring reset isn’t about perfection—it’s about intention. By making small, thoughtful decor updates, you will create a home that feels lighter, brighter, and ready for the beautiful spring season ahead.

Start with one room. One corner. One accessory.
Those little changes add up—and your home will thank you for it.
