🎄 How to Style Your Christmas Tree Like a Pro
Christmas season is here, and there’s nothing quite like the sparkle of a beautifully decorated Christmas tree to set the festive mood in your home. Whether you love a traditional, rustic, or a more modern look, styling your Christmas tree is lots of fun, a chance to be creative, and an opportunity to showcase your personal style.
Choose the Right Tree For You
Start with the foundation as you would for any kind of styling. Whether you go for a real or artificial tree, make sure it fits your space well and suits your style. Don't forget to leave some room for your tree topper too.
-
Real tree: Offers a fresh pine scent, a natural look and no storage problems.
-
Artificial tree: Reusable, low-maintenance, and some are very realistic looking too.
Â
Pick a Theme or Colour PaletteÂ
Choosing a theme in advance gives your tree a cohesive, stylish look, and allows you to get going as soon as you're ready. Here are a few popular ideas we came up with:
-
Classic Red & Gold: Timeless and elegant of course is always a firm favourite within households, it never gets old and really gives a true traditional feeling to your space.
-
Winter Wonderland: Whites, silvers, icy blues and pinks for a frosty touch which adds the most beautiful visual and cosyness to your home.
-
Rustic Charm: Burlap, wood ornaments, pinecones, and warm lights gives your home a warm and fuzzy feeling, with a real classy appearance.
-
Modern Minimalist: Metallics, neutrals, and simple geometric shapes giving a very cool and artistic flare.
Pro tip: Stick to two or three main colours to keep your tree looking balanced.Â

Add the Lights
Lights should always go on before the ornaments! Use 100 lights per foot of tree for a glowing effect.
Wrap lights from the base upward, weaving them along branches and towards the trunk to create depth and sparkle, make sure you cover all bases so you don't end up clumpy or missing large spaces. You want your tree to glow in all the right places.
Layer Your Ornaments
Time to get creative! Start with larger ornaments and fill in with smaller ones.
-
Step 1: Hang large ornaments deep inside the branches for dimension.
-
Step 2: Place medium ornaments in the middle.
-
Step 3: Finish with smaller or statement pieces on the outer branches.
Add Ribbon or Garland
Ribbon adds a professional, finished touch. Try weaving it through the tree in soft waves or cascading spirals. You can also use beaded garlands, tinsel, or natural elements like eucalyptus or dried oranges for a unique twist. Have fun with it and simply decorate to your personality.Â

 Top It Off
A beautiful tree topper completes your look! Traditional stars and angels are always lovely, but you can also experiment with bows, floral arrangements, or rustic picks for a modern spin. Whichever you choose I'm sure it will look amazing!
Don’t Forget the Base
A tree skirt, wicker collar, or festive basket and large signs hides the stand and ties the look together. Choose one that complements your theme never forget this part as it makes all the difference visually.
Add Personal Touches
Another nice touch to make your tree feel extra special is to maybe add some family ornaments, DIY decorations, and souvenirs. Â These meaningful touches tell your story and make your tree uniquely yours.
Final Touch: Step Back and Enjoy
Once everything’s in place, step back and adjust spacing, lights, and ribbon with those final finishing touches. Turn on the lights to watch and enjoy your own masterpiece come to life.
